CLT Asian Eats is celebrating AAPI Month with its second annual NC Asian Eats Restaurant Week, showcasing some of the city’s Asian-owned eateries and offering discounts and complimentary items across the Charlotte area. The Facebook group-turned-social meetup club has grown into one of the largest platforms in the state for connecting people with authentic Asian fare, while also organizing fun member events that highlight the culture. Charlotte golf content creators Michael Rodriguez and Jerell Fields, along with former Duke and Charlotte Bobcats star Gerald Henderson, are hosting The Pull Up at Tap In, the new golf-focused social venue and event space that opened last year in South End. Herbie Hancock, the legendary jazz pianist and innovator, will bring his tour to Belk Theater in Charlotte on Wednesday night. A 14-time Grammy Award-winner, Hancock has also earned an Academy Award for his score for the 1986 film Round Midnight, received Kennedy Center Honors, and was awarded the prestigious Polar Music Prize for his lifetime of achievement. Rising to prominence in the ’60s under the mentorship of Miles Davis and Donald Byrd, Hancock has released more than 40 studio albums, helping shape post-bop while pioneering the use of electronic instruments in jazz and bridging the genre with funk, hip-hop, and popular music. His 1983 hit “Rockit” remains one of his most recognizable works, a groundbreaking fusion of jazz and electronic music that solidified his reputation as one of the genre’s most forward-thinking artists.

Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Club (May 6-10)

The Truist Championship returns to Charlotte this week after a one-year hiatus following the Quail Hollow Club hosting the 2025 PGA Championship, bringing one of the PGA Tour’s premier signature events back to the Queen City. The tournament also marks Rory McIlroy’s first start since his back-to-back Masters victories last month, with the four-time Truist winner entering as the favorite in a stacked field of the world’s top-ranked players competing for a $20 million purse. Beyond the competition, the event will spotlight local businesses and nonprofits while expanding its fan experience with new activations, themed zones, and a Mother’s Day celebration on-site. Caifanes, one of the most influential bands in Latin American rock history, will perform at The Fillmore Charlotte on Saturday. Formed in Mexico City in the late ’80s, Caifanes helped pioneer the Rock en Español movement with a signature sound blending new wave, post-punk, progressive rock, and Latin rhythms. Led by vocalist Saúl Hernández, the band rose to prominence with landmark tracks like “La Negra Tomasa” and “La Célula Que Explota,” as well as classic albums including Caifanes, El Diablito, El Silencio, and El Nervio del Volcán, which cemented their status as icons of Mexican rock. After breaking up in the mid-’90s and later reuniting in 2011, the band continues to tour internationally with performances that remain deeply influential across generations.
