Charlotte FC closes out its Leagues Cup Phase One schedule Tuesday night when it hosts seven-time Liga MX champion CF Pachuca at Bank of America Stadium. Playing in the competition for the third time in just over a week, Charlotte has dominated through its first two matches, beating Pumas UNAM 3-0 and Atlas FC 2-0 without conceding a goal. Against Atlas on Friday, Liel Abada broke the deadlock in the 78th minute off a precise pass from Tyger Smalls, who then added a second goal in stoppage time to seal the victory, while goalkeeper Tyler Miller made a crucial one-handed save late in the first half to preserve the clean sheet. Charlotte enters Tuesday’s match with six points from two games and an opportunity to make it three wins from three against a struggling Pachuca side that has already been eliminated from advancing after losses to FC Cincinnati and Columbus Crew. The matchup marks the first meeting between the clubs, with Pachuca returning to the Queen City after facing Real Madrid at Bank of America Stadium during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Formed in Glasgow in 2002, Franz Ferdinand broke through internationally with their 2004 self-titled debut, which won the Mercury Prize and featured the signature hit “Take Me Out,” a Grammy-nominated track that reached No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart. The band followed with acclaimed albums including You Could Have It So Much Better, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action and Always Ascending, before releasing their sixth studio album, The Human Fear, in January 2025. Throughout their career, Franz Ferdinand have earned two Brit Awards and multiple Grammy nominations. Sunday Mourners, formed by college friends in Los Angeles, released their debut album, A-Rhythm Absolute, in January 2026 through Curation Records. The band’s minimalist art-punk sound combines jagged guitar work, raw alternative-rock energy and dry, tape-machine production, drawing comparisons to Wire, Television, Richard Hell and The Strokes.

The experience will feature a wide range of programming, including a live edition of From the Pew, master classes, Stellar Talks with Dr. Jay Barnett, a fitness zone, networking opportunities, an emerging artist experience, a songwriters symposium, marketplace and vendor activations, live music and a stand-up comedy showcase. Chattanooga rapper Isaiah Rashad brings his woozy, introspective Southern hip-hop sound to The Fillmore with Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Alemeda opening the show as part of his Lil Sunny’s Awful Road Trip Tour. Rashad first gained attention during the 2012 Smokers Club Tour before signing with Top Dawg Entertainment and releasing his acclaimed debut EP, Cilvia Demo, in 2014. He followed with his 2016 debut album, The Sun’s Tirade, and 2021’s The House Is Burning, cementing his reputation for laid-back flows and deeply personal songwriting. Rashad released his third studio album, It’s Been Awful, in May 2026, marking his return after another five-year gap between albums. Joining him is Alemeda, the Ethiopian-born, Phoenix-raised singer-songwriter who signed with Top Dawg Entertainment and Warner Records in 2024. Known for blending contemporary pop with alternative rock, indie and R&B, Alemeda released her debut EP, FK IT, in 2024 and followed with But What The Hell Do I Know in 2025.

Charlotte Pride Festival returns to Uptown this weekend for two days of LGBTQ+ celebration, community and culture. The festival at First Ward Park runs from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, featuring local, regional and national entertainers and musicians, hundreds of vendors, food, art exhibits and community resources. Saturday’s lineup includes high-energy Los Angeles rap duo Flyana Boss, Honduran pop and reggaeton artist Isabella Lovestory, and Indianapolis indie-pop singer-songwriter Lauren Sanderson. Sunday’s parade, running from 1 to 4 p.m. along North Tryon Street, will celebrate more than 50 years of LGBTQ+ history and liberation in Charlotte. The 41st Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards will bring gospel music’s premier awards show to Charlotte’s Spectrum Center this week. Hosted by 20-time Grammy winner Kirk Franklin under this year’s theme, “Feels Like Home,” the awards will honor the best and brightest in gospel music across 31 categories, plus six Gospel Radio categories, while featuring performances, tributes and special honors. The celebration will span the week with the Stellar Plus Experience from August 12-15, featuring community events, workshops and concerts, followed by the Stellar Awards Pre-Show and Radio Awards at the Carolina Theatre on Friday, August 14, hosted by MAJOR., Adia and Jamal Roberts. Local North Carolina favorites Pastor John P. Kee and Kim Person lead the nominations with seven each, while Melvin Crispell III and the North Carolina A&T Gospel Choir are also among the top nominees. Performers and special guests include PJ Morton, Le’Andria Johnson, Pastor Mike Jr. and Daryl Walls, with the main ceremony beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Australian pop-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer will bring its 2026 tour to Charlotte with The Band CAMINO and Haiden Henderson. 5 Seconds of Summer rose to international fame after touring with One Direction before establishing themselves as one of Australia’s most successful musical acts. The band has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide with more than seven billion streams and a catalog that includes hits such as “She Looks So Perfect” and “Youngblood.” Their latest album, Everyone’s a Star!, arrived in November 2025 and launched the current world tour, which runs through December. Memphis-formed indie rockers The Band CAMINO will join the tour following the release of their 2026 album NeverAlways (Vol. 2), while Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Haiden Henderson brings his blend of indie pop, pop rock and alternative pop to the bill.

Charlotte Athletics will host a free Movie Night at Jerry Richardson Stadium on Saturday, inviting the community to watch Disney’s Zootopia 2 on the stadium videoboard from the turf. The animated sequel reunites rookie police officer Judy Hopps and fox-turned-partner Nick Wilde as they take on a new mystery that sends them deep into the animal metropolis of Zootopia. The film features the returning voices of Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, along with new additions to the cast, including Ke Huy Quan and Fortune Feimster. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., with the film beginning at 7:30 p.m., and attendees can bring blankets to sit on the field, but chairs are not permitted.
